  1. Short: Multipurpose gfx converter. 2.04+.

  6. PicCon is short for Picture Converter. This is a utility for converting
  7. graphics from "packed" formats (like IFF-ILBMs, GIFs etc) to any of a
  8. host of different RAW formats, all in a full-featured GUI. While PicCon
  9. originally was targetted at the programmers, it now also supports saving
  10. to Amiga workbench icons and Amiga fontsets (draw a fontset in DPaint, then
  11. convert it to the Amiga bitmap fonts format with PicCon), while it still has
  12. extensive support for all RAW formats that I (and the users) could find
  13. interesting (including bitplanes, interleaved, chunky, sprite16/32/64,
  14. blittermasks +++).

  16. Major improvements since version 2.00:
  17.  
  18. o OS2.04+ compability, no longer requires OS3.0
  19.  
  20. o batchprocessing from the commandline (save out all graphics that
  21.  a project need through a single command!)
  22.  
  23. o extensive Super Nintendo/Famicom support (save SNES palettes, charactersets,
  24.  screens, objects, MODE7 screens, etc etc)
  25.  
  26. o Sega Megadrive/Genesis support
  27.  
  28. o save bitmaps to Amiga fonts (which you can later use in DTP, wordprocessing,
  29.  on the Workbench, in DPaint, etc)
  30.  
  31. o some example Amiga assembler sourcecodes that uses some of the saveformats
  32.  are included (nice for beginners), including sources for displaying 8 
  33.  bitplanes screens, HAM8 screens, 64 pixels wide AGA sprites ++
  34.  
  35. o save as E source
  36.  
  37. o included general configurationwindow (remove annoying requesters, etc)
  38.  
  39. (+ the usual bug/quirk fixes).

  42. This is a demoversion. Two non-essential features are missing, and the
  43. program will exit after two saves.
